Sustainability

At Ameyalli Swim, every piece is more than swimwear, it’s a conscious choice for the ocean, for the planet, and for a slower, more intentional way of creating.

One of the biggest reasons behind my fabric choice is the impact of abandoned fishing nets, often called ghost nets. These nets are made from synthetic plastic and can remain in the ocean for decades. During that time, they trap and injure sea turtles, dolphins, seals, and countless fish species, damage coral reefs, and slowly break down into microplastics that pollute the water. Removing these nets from the ocean doesn’t just reduce plastic pollution, it directly protects marine life and helps restore marine ecosystems. That’s why this matters so deeply to me.

I use high-quality fabric from Carvico, made from regenerated nylon created from recycled fishing nets and other waste materials. Instead of producing brand-new petroleum-based nylon, this process recovers discarded nets and plastic waste and transforms them into premium performance fabric. This reduces the demand for virgin raw materials while giving existing materials a second life. The result is swimwear that is durable, soft, comfortable, high-performance, and lower impact than conventional nylon. It’s a way of turning ocean waste into something beautiful and wearable.

Every Ameyalli Swim piece is handmade by me and created only after you place your order. This made-to-order approach is part of my commitment to slow fashion. Unlike fast fashion, which often overproduces and sends excess inventory to landfills, slow fashion focuses on quality over quantity. By creating only what is purchased, there is no unsold stock, fabric waste is minimized, and resources are used intentionally. Production stays small, thoughtful, and controlled, significantly reducing environmental impact compared to bulk manufacturing.

When you support Ameyalli Swim, you’re choosing conscious materials, responsible production, and ethical craftsmanship. You’re not just buying a swimsuit, you’re supporting ocean cleanup through regenerated materials, reducing waste through made-to-order production, and investing in a piece created with care, intention, and longevity in mind.

The ocean inspires everything I create. It deserves protection, respect, and better choices. Ameyalli Swim exists to prove that swimwear can be beautiful, functional, intentional, and kinder to the planet. Thank you for choosing slow fashion, for supporting sustainability, and for supporting a small business that truly cares.
